Borussia Dortmund claim a 2-0 win in a tough battle against Darmstadt. Here is watch coaches and players had to say after the match. (Sources: Sky Germany, BVB.de, Bundesliga.de)
Dirk Schuster (SV Darmstadt): “We made it difficult for the opponent over most parts of the match. We played a good first half, but eventually succumbed to Dortmund’s individual class and went behind. However, we had a huge chance to make it 1:0 before that.We sold ourselves dear in the second half as well. If we had pulled one one goal back, we could have made the match more exciting. Despite the loss I’m happy with my team’s performance. I want to apologize for bad quality of our the pitch. ”
Thomas Tuchel: “When you travel to Darmstadt being Borussia Dortmund, the most you can hope for is a professional display. It wasn’t spectacular, but efficient. We delivered just that.”
…on Saturday’s clash against Bayern: “It is nice to enter the direct duel against Bayern with a five point margin. The gap remains sizable, but obviously we’ll rather enter the match with a 5-point-gap than trailing by eight. If Bayern win on Saturday, it will still pre-decide the title race. But this is the constellation we had hoped for and now it’s on us. We will try everything to reduce the gap.”
Neven Subotic: “It didn’t really feel like football. It was a lot of lumping the ball down the field. It was uncomfortable, being rather a wrestling-match in the mud.”
Erik Durm: “We are looking forward to Saturday. We can achieve a lot with the support of our fans. It will be a special match on Saturday – Bayern know that and so do we.
Mats Hummels: “We want to make the Bundesliga tense again on Saturday against Bayern – very tense. It’ll be a heated showdown!”
