…Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, for the second month running!
Aubameyang is having an incredible season and, after failing to receive a nomination from any of us writers in August, has now managed to win the much coveted award in both September and October.
He had some fierce competition, but scoring seven and assisting two (without even featuring in a 7-1 defeat of SC Paderborn) was enough to win higher praise than anyone else in the squad.
The Gabonese has gone from strength to strength since he has been regularly played up front, and simply cannot stop scoring. That’s no longer the most impressive feature of Aubameyang’s game, though. His pace is now paired with consistently superb movement and his selflessness – most evident in the defeat of Mainz 05 – is incredible for such a prolific striker.
Five appearances, seven goals, two assists. Another strong month from Aubameyang. Right now, there isn’t anything he can’t do. Lucky the club tied him down in the summer, eh?

First place: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
After the 5-1 loss in Munich Borussia Dortmund went back to winning ways for what was mostly a golden October. 22 goals in 7 games – 7 of which were scored by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang including two hat-tricks, in addition to two selfless assists against Mainz. As Thomas Tuchel said: “He is the benchmark for everyone else” and he was the one who stood out for me in an outstanding month.
Second place: Ilkay Gündogan
I could have tossed a coin, turned around twice and made a guess. There is an abundance of players to choose from behind Aubameyang, but for me it has to be Ilkay Gündogan. While BVB have shown that they do not necessarily depend on stand out players upfront in recent games, they will find it extremely hard without midfield metronome Ilkay Gündogan.
Third place: Henrikh Mkhitaryan
Marco Reus has been October’s ketchup bottle with his rise of form, but Henrikh Mkhitaryan has been Mr. Consistent and keeps delivering. We’re all lucky to witness his marvellous skill. Shinji Kagawa and Julian Weigl have also deserved a shout. Dortmund’s backline needs to step up though.

First place: Henrikh Mkhitaryan
What more needs be said about Henrikh Mkhitaryan? Only political matters can stop the 26-year-old midfield powerhouse. After being written off several times, now every supporter cannot imagine the team without the Armenian. In the three Bundesliga games Mkhitaryan played during October, he scored two goals and played four key passes, with one leading to a goal. Moreover, 73 percent of his take-ons were successful.
Second place: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
Twelve shots with an ExpG value of 4.47, while converting four of those attempts – the numbers look as impressive as Aubameyang’s performances in October. Without the Gabonese, Dortmund would have not been able to be that relentless in terms of shot conversion. While the transition from a linear high-speed winger he was in his first Dortmund year to the pivotal point up-front progresses, he is still able to do harm to the opponent when situationally moving to the outside. This versatility has made Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang even more important to Thomas Tuchel’s tactical system.
Third place: Sokratis Papastathopoulos
Dortmund’s backline has looked outrageous at times. With that being said, give Sokratis some love. The Greek Gladiator has clearly developed throughout the season, avoiding senseless runs out of the back line. Sokratis has the speed Mats Hummels lacks. And he has the ball-winning ability Matthias Ginter never shows. As the 27-year-old has recently extended his contract until 2019, Dortmund fans can feel happy that the most reliable defender during the month of October will continue to carry out his duties wearing a black-and-yellow shirt for a long time.

First place: Henrikh Mkhitaryan
Whenever the Armenian is on the pitch he oozes quality in nearly everything he does. The dynamic midfielder was among the best players, if he wasn’t THE best player, in every game he played this month.
Second place: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
Aubameyang just keeps on scoring and assisting, with the exception of the last game this month against Bremen, which cost him the number one spot on my list. I’m sure he’ll get over it.
Third place: Julian Weigl
This was a very close call between Kagawa, Gündoğan, Sokratis and Weigl, but the youngster at the base of our midfield edges it for me. The consistence Weigl displays is almost unbelievable. You always know what you’re going to get with him and it’s always excellent.

First place: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
Pipping Mkhitaryan required an outrageous run of performances. Luckily for Dortmund, Aubameyang had just that. The man who scores more regularly than Joey Tribbiani and Barney Stinson ran riot for the most part. Imagine how many Paderborn would’ve conceded had he been on the field! Aubameyang was the only choice.
Second place: Henrikh Mkhitaryan
A scintillating performance against Bremen was the icing on the cake of a brilliant month for the Armenian, who could easily have won my first-place vote for the third month running. BVB’s most consistent player this year, with another stellar month of football proving us believers in Magictaryan right. #Miki2020, pretty please!
Third place: Julian Weigl
For me, there’s a virtual three-way tie for third place, with Shinji Kagawa, Marco Reus and Julian Weigl all having enjoyed a good month. Remarkable consistency is what lead me to give my vote to Weigl, as he’s the only one among the three who didn’t have a single dud.

First place: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
After missing the draw with PAOK, Aubameyang kicked off his win with what ended up being a consolation goal against Bayern Munich. The team could have faltered after that, but Aubameyang kept their collective he’d above the water after the international break. Two assists won the game against Mainz before an Aubameyang hat-trick spared everyone’s blushes against Qabala. Another hat-trick lit up the win over Augsburg and practically made it impossible for me to ignore Auba as the number one choice.
Second place: Marco Reus
Marco Reus has arrived in the 2015/16 season! Of all the player revitalised but Thomas Tuchel’s arrival, Reus seemed to struggle for form a little bit. However, October saw him score five goals in his three Bundesliga starts as he finally seems settled now he is playing from the left again. Welcome back Marco!
Third place: Henrikh Mkhitaryan
Miki started the season so well it was almost impossible to keep it up. I say almost, because he has defied all odds to keep it up. Recent performances have seen him recapture his early season prowess in front of goal, with the goal and assist against Bremen finishing off a brilliant month. The only reason he isn’t higher for me is he missed the superb team performance against Augsburg.
