He is one of the few Borussia Dortmund players, who showed great performance to be linked with a move. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been Dortmund’s most prolific attacker in this difficult season and now linked with Liverpool. 22 goals and 11 assists in 43 matches in all competitions this seasons are speaking for the Gabonese striker.
With gradually improving form at Dortmund, Aubameyang has taken the lone striker position in Klopp’s system ahead of newly signed Ciro Immobile and Adrian Ramos. He has been involved in almost half of Dortmund’s Bundesliga goals, underlining his importance for BVB – especially this season. Marco Reus and Jakub Blaszczykowski have been injured more often than not, while Shinji Kagawa and Henrikh Mkhitaryan have struggled to find their feet. Without Aubameyang stepping up and carrying the majority of the workload in BVB’s offense, the club would probably still fight against relegation instead of eyeing an Europa League finish and a cup win.
The pacy attacker has blossomed in his second year under Klopp and is now one of the figureheads in that Dortmund lineup. As tempting any offer might be, Dortmund will be reluctant to sell Aubameyang, who is sitting on a contract valid until 2018. Although Liverpool might very well be interested in Aubameyang, it’s nothing but a mere rumor in the silly season so far, besides Liverpool are being linked with players on a daily basis.
