It wasn’t the most spectacular match of all time to behold, but it had it’s moments. The equalizer in the end unnecessary, but irrelevant looking at the bigger picture, as Dortmund will avoid all other group winners.
Whether first place will mean an easy draw for Dortmund remains to be seen, but this match against Anderlecht had plenty of other stories to tell
It’s good to know, that whatever will happen on Tuesday night against RSC Anderlecht, we will all have the pleasure of seeing Borussia Dortmund at least two more times in that fancy Champions League kit. A loss will most likely mean second place – let’s just assume Arsenal will win their game in Istanbul – a draw might not be enough, if the London club wins by more than six goals, while a win will win the group for BVB. No-brainer.
Phew. The worst fears did not become reality, Borussia Dortmund won 1-0 on Friday night against Hoffenheim. A big relief, as nobody wants to picture, a different outcome. Thankfully it was a sweet victory, with a lot to take away from.
Matthias Suuck and Stefan Buczko discuss the Frankfurt game, what it means for Dortmund to be bottom of the league, preview the Hoffenheim match and the Champions League encounter against Anderlecht.
Borussia Dortmund will take on the project ‘TSG Hoffenheim’ on Friday night (kick-off: 20.30 cet) to take on the project ’12 points before the winter break’. Apart from VfL Wolfsburg, Borussia Dortmund simply must pick off the remaining opponents, that are Hoffenheim, Hertha and Bremen. Of course, nothing comes easy in these times but this is an last attempt to hope for Champions League in 2015/2016.

Rock bottom. It is starting to get scary now. For the first time in a very, very, very long time Borussia Dortmund fans turn against their team, while the Champions League places seem far out of reach by now. The thought what might happen if Borussia Dortmund actually fails to qualify is a freightening one. Which players will be willing to stay? Definitely not Ilkay Gündogan or Marco Reus. Will everything fall apart then? Dark and depressing thoughts arise after yet another painful loss.
