Borussia Dortmund signed 18-year-old central midfielder Orel Mangala from Belgium first division club RSC Anderlecht on a one-year loan.
Youth-coordinator Lars Ricken confirmed in Ruhr Nachrichten that 18-year-old central midfielder Orel Mangala will join Borussia Dormtund’s U19 on a one-year loan from Belgium club RSC Anderlecht.
BVB were already interested in signing the youngster in winter, but a deal did not materialise. However, the Westphalians possess a buy-option for Mangala, who already impressed the dress of the Belgium national team at the Under 17 world championship in Chile in 2015.
Mangala will reinforce the newly crowned German Under-19 Champions, bringing all the ingredients to become a modern central midfielder with him.
He has got the technical ability to operate in tight spaces, vision and creativity, as well as the necessary physicality.
It’s likely that Tuchel will call up Mangala to train with the senior team to bring him on to the next level. Whether the young Belgium can make the step to the professionals like Christian Pulisic and Felix Passlack remains to be seen, but Borussia Dortmund fans can look forward to another exciting talent in their ranks.
In Dortmund he has good chances to make the most of his potential, which might entail a loan to another Bundesliga club further down the road.
