Borussia Dortmund’s season starts on the 30th of July against FC Shakhtyor Soligorsk (BLR) or Wolfsberger AC (AUT) with the third qualifying round of the UEFA Europa League. The second leg will be held on the 6th of August. The Austrians won 1-0 in Belarus and will play the second leg on 23rd of July in Klagenfurt/Wörthersee Stadion instead of their own Lavanttal Arena, which does not comply with UEFA regulations (Kick-off: 20.30 CET).
For Borussia Dortmund a tie against Wolfsberger AC is obviously the preferable one, as a trip to Austria is less exhausting than a trip to Belarus, but BVB will be heavy favourites in either case.
Assuming that BVB progress, they will have to play the final play-off round before qualifying for the Euro League group stages. The fixtures are set for the 20.08. and the 27.08 in between the first three Bundesliga match days.
