Henrikh Mkhitaryan wants to leave Borussia Dortmund in the summer according to his agent Mino Raiola, who was quoted in the Bulgarian online-portal “Topsport”: “Henrikh wishes to leave Dortmund in the summer. I have to see, what I can do.”
Here we are then, the rats are leaving the sinking ship. Luckily this will be an unnerving transfer saga with a player agent, who likes to give weekly statements in the press, that’ll drag on for the next months. We totally missed that since Robert Lewandowski left, thank you Miki.
Dortmund Boss Hans-Joachim Watzke said in La Manga “Maybe it’s not so bad, if one or another player will leave, who just came to ride the euphoria-wave.” Perhaps already hinting to the Armenian.
Currently a few Borussia Dortmund fans wouldn’t be sad about a Mkhitaryan departure either. So far he hasn’t quite delivered what his 27.5 million euro fee had promised and with 0 goals and 1 assist so far this season the play maker is part of the problem he seemingly wants to escape.
Mkhitaryan’s contract is still running until 2017, so Borussia Dortmund are in the position to decide about his future. Certainly they are not under pressure to sell him and will have all the cards in their hand in this poker. If a club wants to acquire the talents of the Armenian Footballer of the year, they will have to cough up a nice fee. Juventus have already shown interest, but first of all Borussia Dortmund will have to have a replacement lined up and thus the speculations beginneth.
However, there is still an awesome footballer hidden in the unfortunate and melancholic Henrikh Mkhitaryan. Maybe a turn around in his form will also change his mindset on leaving the club.
As football usually has it, Miki will probably score against FC Augsburg later this evening.
Where do you stand on this: Are you sad that Henrikh Mkhitaryan wants to leave the club, or is it a good riddance? Tell us in the comments
