The list of players unavailable for Saturday’s edition of ‘Der Klassiker’ is increasing by the minute. Jürgen Klopp has a serious fullback problem as Oliver Kirch picked up an injury during the international break – although he stayed in Dortmund. At least after the press conference we know, that the situation is not as severe as initially thought. Marcel Schmelzer will feature as left back and Sokratis Papastathopoulos will fulfill his part as right back. Erik Durm is back in normal training and is fit to play, if need be.
Sadly, Nuri Sahin will continue to be sidelined as he has caught an inflammation – which we all know can sometimes take a while. His absence has been noted, as Dortmund’s offensive power immediately plummeted without the Turkish international in central midfield.
On the Bavarian side things aren’t looking to bright either. Arjen Robben nor Franck Ribery will feature in Pep’s offense and David Alaba is ruled out as well, as he returned from international duty with a ligament injury. That injury will make the tie even more explosive, as Rafinha will feature in the wake of the Austrian. Rafinha has a history of being overly motivated in matches against Borussia Dortmund and will most likely add even more fuel to the fire. But of course Bayern’s squad is big enough to cause some sort of uproar, as at least one star player cannot be considered by Pep Guardiola.
