According to the Allgemeine Zeitung Johannes Geis and Borussia Dortmund have agreed on terms. The newspaper writes that FSV Mainz 05 and BVB still have their differences on the transfer fee of the defensive midfielder. Mainz want to receive at least €10 million for the 21 year old, whose contract is still running until 2017, but BVB are not willing to pay that much yet. AZ states that the deal hinges on a transfer of Ilkay Gündogan, but BVB are yet to receive an offer.
In other words, this transfer will drag itself out for a while longer. Dortmund are waiting for a generous English Premiere League club to fill their purse before they splash the cash on Geis, who is on top of the list. Gündogan has said, that he might even stay for another year, as it’s his decision to make. It’s highly unlikely, but if the German international has the intention to join FC Barcelona, he has to wait out the transfer ban.
