Sebastian Kehl will be out for four weeks with a shoulder injury. Acromioclavicular separation is the medical term, that will keep him out for the period of a month. A very unfortunate moment indeed, when Mats Hummels jumped on Kehl’s shoulder in order to defend a set-piece. The rotten injury luck seems to be endless.
It might be a tough start for Borussia Dortmund, who are now missing both Sebastian Kehl and Sven Bender in defensive midfield. So do the black and yellows have to get active on the transfer market? Lassana Diarra has been linked with Borussia Dortmund, the 29 year old is currently without a club, as FC Lokomotiv Moscow did not renew his contract. The ex-Real Madrid player is experienced and might be a short-term solution.
BUT, when you have Oliver Kirch signing Diarra isn’t necessaray. Kirch can easily fulfill the same job on that position and although Diarra might be on a free transfer, he won’t play for free. And if Kirch is out, Matthias Ginter could also play in defensive midfield. In other words, Jürgen Klopp has still enough options for the time Kehl and Bender are absent – yet, since defensive midfielders are dropping like flies in Dortmund, the club might think about playing it safe and add more depth to their squad with Lassana Diarra.
