As Real Madrid are making a stop in the Ruhrarea to give FC Schalke a spanking,
the rumors around Sami Khedira, who’s contract at Real Madrid is running out at the end of the season, to play for Borussia Dortmund next season come back to light.
The world champion and champions league winner has fallen out of favour since Jose Mourinho left los blancos. With Khedira’s departure seeming imminent at the end of the season, the defensive midfielder is becoming interesting for BVB, who will have to fill a void in their central midfield next season. Sebastian Kehl will end his career at the end of the season and Ilkay Gündogan’s remain at Borussia Dortmund is still uncertain.
Sami Khedira has been injury prone lately, but nevertheless the defensive midfielder is a great fit. He is not one for the flashy, silky plays, but he box-to-box midfielder with top-level experience. The 27 year old is one for the strategic aspects of the game, being a midfield dynamo, he is takes his business in tackling, intercepting and covering the back line. Germany fans will know, that he can lead a team and take a game by the scruff of its neck.
But acquiring the services of the world champion won’t be easy, as Khedira will have royal wage demands and will probably look to play in the Champions League next season.
