Pascal Stenzel has joined second-tier side SC Freiburg on an 18-month loan, after which he will return to Dortmund.
“Freiburg’s football philosophy favours my strengths. It is the right club to pick up playing time and to make progress”, said Stenzel, per SCFreiburg.com.
Klemens Hartenbach, sports director at Freiburg, added: “Pascal is a good passer with a high football IQ. He has already played at a high level for the U20 national team and Borussia Dortmund. Pascal can be fielded in central midfield and at right-back.”
Stenzel has made one appearance for Dortmund’s senior team – against PAOK in the last match of this season’s Europa League group stage. Moreover, the versatile 19-year-old has featured nine times for BVB II in the fourth-tier Regionalliga this season.
