Borussia Dortmund play against SV Darmstadt 98 on Sunday. Only three players are unavailable due to injury, while Marco Reus is fit to play.
Thomas Tuchel has almost the entire roster at his disposal against SV Darmstadt 98. Marco Reus has handled his stint against TSG Hoffenheim well on Wednesday and is expected to feature in the starting lineup to regain match rhythm and form.
Apart from the long-term injured Nuri Sahin and Erik Durm, only Neven Subotic is still sidelined with ongoing back pain. Tuchel said on Friday that the centre-back is on his way to recovery, but the match against Darmstadt will come too early for the defender. It’s far from ideal for the coach, who had planned to rotate on the centre-back position in the past two weeks to take pressure off Hummels and Sokratis.
Otherwise Tuchel will have every option to rotate the starting XI. He has hinted that Adnan Januzaj could be an option to start – it already was a close call against Hoffenheim, were Hofmann got the nod. It’s important to balance the strain that every player of Dortmund’s best eleven is fully fit in the week to come against FC Bayern – beating Darmstadt should be an achievable task for any BVB lineup.
