BVB coach Thomas Tuchel told the media on Friday that he expects one or two signings to arrive at the club before the transfer windows closes, with Yunus Malli and Andriy Yarmolenko currently the two players most heavily linked with the club.
Dortmund’s coach offered a positive summary of BVB’s stay at the NAS Sports Complex, beating Eintracht Frankfurt (4-0) and the South Korean champions Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors FC (4-1) in friendlies. “We’ve worked very hard and very intensely over the last two weeks. There’s been a good level of energy on a personal level between the players as well, ” Tuchel told the club’s official website.
After selling Jonas Hofmann to Borussia Mönchengladbach and ending Adnan Januzaj’s loan prematurely, many Borussia Dortmund fans are keen to know if their club will become active on the transfer market before the transfer window slams shut.
Thomas Tuchel confirmed after the friendly against Joenbuk that he is keen to see one or two reinforcements, as he told Sky Sport News HD: “I believe that we will sign one or two players (in this transfer period), because we need to keep the level up in training. Currently it’s a very thin squad. We had two players from the U19 with us (Felix Passlack and Christian Pulisic), who will stay with us, but we have a busy schedule ahead. We will have to play twice a week from February on and want to stay competitive in all competitions. In order to achieve that we need a high standard of quality throughout the entire squad.”
BVB sporting director Michael Zorc is working hard in the background to fulfill his coach’s demands. Tuchel has indicated that Borussia Dortmund are on the outlook to sign two players that would have an immediate impact. Yunus Malli from Mainz 05 and Dynamo Kiev’s Andriy Yarmolenko are currently the two hottest rumors. Our writer Lars Pollmann has written a scouting report on both players on Bleacher Report. Whether they will meet BVB’s ambitions remains to be seen, but it looks like Borussia Dortmund are not afraid to spend money in this transfer window to bolster their squad.
